Vaginosis Bacteriana

Vaginosis bacteriana can mimic some symptoms of viruses that cause cervical cancer or vaginal dysplasia. The overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria and the Gardnerells organism is the primary cause of this bacterial infection. Small amounts of these bacteria and organisms are always present in a healthy vagina. The infection occurs when the vaginal balance is disrupted. Several causes are attributed to the development of this condition. Vaginosis bacteriana can mimic some symptoms of viruses that cause cervical cancer or vaginal dysplasia.

Poor health, hot weather, poor hygiene, use of an intrauterine device, and routine douching can cause an imbalance in the vagina. Another factor is E. coli, a normal inhabitant of the rectum, can cause the condition. Increasing the chance of this infection developing is the occurrences of menopause and diabetes.
