Treatment Of Warts

The treatment of warts is prescribed after colposcopy is performed; but human papillomavirus remains in the organism for life. Cure measures are: benign neglect (not recommended for extensive and spreading disease), topical agents (salicylic acid, cantharidin, podophyllin, imiquimod, cidofovir, podophyllotoxin, and tretinoin), intralesional injections (bleomycin, interferon alpha), systemic agents (cimetidine and retinoids), and alternative remedies. There is no ideal remedy. The treatment of warts is prescribed after colposcopy is performed; but human papillomavirus remains in the organism for life.

Malignant change is rare. The disease is asymptomatic, but may cause cosmetic disfigurement and tenderness. Infection affects the skin and mucous membranes; it can occur in any age, but increases at 12-16 years. The condition is usually caused by human papilloma virus.
