Positive pap smear test results usually mean the presence of human papillomavirus, which is usually treated with leep procedure, cryosurgery and other options. Being diagnosed negative means that you have no changes in the cervical cells, whereas abnormal cells suggest a problem caused either by an infection non-related to cancer or cancerous tumors.
