Abnormal Pap

Abnormal pap smear means presence of human papilloma virus in the organism, which can lead to vaginal wart, cervical dysplasia and other abnormalities. Realistically, only 10 out of every 100 HPV infected women will be diagnosed with dysplasia and only one of those ten women with atypical cytology findings will have cancer of the invasive type. Irregular cytology findings do not necessarily mean that a woman has or will have cancer.
