2 Genital Herpes

Type 2 genital herpes symptoms are sometimes confused with the symptoms of vaginosis or vaginitis. Infection about the sex organs is typically acquired through sexual contact and more usually from HSV-II (90%), although HSV-I causes about 10%. The virus is active during replication and resides in its generated lesions introducing transmission through direct contact or asymptomatic viral shedding on the skin. Type 2 genital herpes symptoms are sometimes confused with the symptoms of vaginosis or vaginitis.

Vaginosis, Vaginitis

One of two distinct linear double-stranded viruses, HSV-II causes most of intimate area outbreak symptoms and shares about 50% of homogenous genetic composition with HSV-I yielding related expressed type-common surface antigens. They also offer a level of antibody cross protection, thus, cell-mediated immune responses are vital in determining virulence. Type 2 genital herpes symptoms are sometimes confused with the symptoms of vaginosis or vaginitis.
