If there is evidence of an outbreak of the disease, he/she may choose to deliver the baby by Caesarean section to reduce the chance of transmission of HSV to the baby. A thorough examination will be necessary. If you are pregnant and have a history of the HSV virus, you should inform your obstetrician.
