Warts and pregnancy are not always problematic, for instance, a facial wart is also caused by HPV, but by a different strain although any treatment should be approved by an OB/GYN. Lesions in the vaginal area are caused by human papillomavirus. The main danger of hpv is the increasing risk of cervical cancer and during the pregnancy this infection does not increase the risk of miscarriage or birth defects. Pregnancy itself may cause growths to appear. If the growths are huge and obstruct the birth canal (which is very rare), Cesarean section is recommended. There is a very small risk that hpv will be transmitted to the child during a vaginal delivery. Small problems can be treated with applications of acid; large ones are removed by laser.
