Lip Wart

A lip wart is rarely the same type of HPV that causes a positive ASCUS cervical cancer Pap smear reading. Viral induced growths about the mucous membranes surrounding the exterior of the mouth may manifest in shapes resembling cauliflower-like papules, or flat, or threadlike (filiform) forms emerging singularly or in groups. These types of growths are likely to recur after treatment. A lip wart is rarely the same type of HPV that causes a positive ASCUS cervical cancer Pap smear reading.

Cryosurgery using liquid nitrogen applied to the lesion or electro surgery under local anesthesia may be used to remove growths in this area. Cryosurgery may require repeated processes of two to three times over a several weeks to shed the outer layers and remove the growth.
