Female Genital Picture Wart

Female genital picture wart may be informative in understanding the need for Pap smear and HPV testing. Lesions on the external genitalia linked to 6,11, and 42 are more visible and can appear bumpy, resembling a cauliflower. Typically topical agents consisting of Imiquimod or phodophillin are applied to external warts. They generally require extended use and some itching and burning may result. Cervical changes, dysplasia and cancer, are related to presence of pre-malignant and malignant HPV variants. Growths here can be seen as flat and not easily visible without colposcopy or other special procedures. Given the potential downside, it is important this condition be diagnosed and treated at the early stage. Routine pap smears are advised.
