This type of HPV is highly contagious therefore is easily passed form individual to individual by public pools or bathing facilities where people are likely to be barefoot. Untreated, these growths can reach half an inch or so in diameter or spread to several growths in close proximity. They can be painful if they occur on the ball or heel of the foot, where the body weight bears down on a regular basis.
