Genital vaginal wart viruses are HPV, that also includes the verruca and condyloma. An abnormal pap smear may indicate the presence of the HPV infection. A doctor or other health professional can usually spot the growths from HPV visually, or use a weak vinegar solution to spot the smaller ones in a suspected area. Only about three or four percent of pap smears will show the virus. Strains of the HPV virus are the main cause of pap smear abnormalities. Infections from these certain types of virus could lead to pre-cancer (dysplasia) of the cervix. Genital vaginal wart viruses are HPV, that also includes the verruca and condyloma.
