Genital Wart During Pregnancy

A genital wart during pregnancy is not usually dangerous; abnormal vaginal discharge is not associated with a verruca or genital warts. One of the more serious complications that may be passed on to the infant is the chance that the infant contracts Laryngeal Papillomatosis (women with visible signs of HPV very rarely pass this condition on to their infants) a potentially life-threatening condition. The vagina may become less elastic and HPV could cause obstructions during delivery of the baby if visible signs are present. The management HPV in this condition presents special problems, because of the natural immune suppression of during this time that may lead to the accelerated growth of the condyloma.
