Condyloma acuminata is another name for venereal wart or genital wart. The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is made up of 80-100 strains. Of these, about 20-25 strains cause genital warts in men and women. They are classified as an STD and there is nothing that completely protects a person from contracting HPV when having intercourse. Genital warts will appear any time from a few months to many years after contracting a genital wart strain of HPV and many people that contract HPV clear the virus before every having symptoms.
