Colposcopy

A colposcopy is a diagnostic tool that can detect abnormalities from ASCUS to cervical cancer; cryotherapy can be applied during the same visit to the doctor. This exam is frequently scheduled and has few risks associated with it. From these results and the results from the Pap smear, the doctor can recommend an appropriate treatment. The biopsies are then sent to a lab and further examined to determine for sure the severity of the abnormal cells.
