Pregnancy Colposcopy

During pregnancy colposcopy is possible to determine venereal wart and other problems, but cryosurgery and other methods of treatment are applied after delivery. It becomes more risky in pregnant women to cause more than just mild bleeding to the cervix or for infection to develop. When biopsies are taken when a woman is pregnant, the least amount needed should be taken and sponge forceps should be used. During pregnancy colposcopy is possible to determine venereal wart and other problems, but cryosurgery and other methods of treatment are applied after delivery.

When a pregnant woman has a Pap smear come back abnormal is not uncommon for the doctor to schedule one of these exams as follow up.
