Colposcopy Examination

Colposcopy examination can be performed with a leep procedure or cryosurgery during the same visit to the doctor. It is performed in a physician’s office with a help of a colposcope – a large electric microscope with a light on the end of it. The procedure is rather simple and takes about 15-20 minutes. Abnormalities may be caused by HPV, dysplasia, infections, cancer and other causes. Colposcopy examination can be performed with a leep procedure or cryosurgery during the same visit to the doctor.

LEEP Procedure, Cryosurgery

After a Pap smear test has shown abnormal tissues in the cervix, it is important to take a closer look at the problem area to determine the cause of the abnormal results, because a Pap test is only a screening test, not the diagnostic tool. Colposcopy examination can be performed with a leep procedure or cryosurgery during the same visit to the doctor.
