Colposcopy Exam

A colposcopy exam may include cryosurgery or a LEEP procedure of the affected area. Millions of women each year have yearly Pap smears done and over half of those Paps will be abnormal. Since doctors like to know for sure what the exact level of symptoms are, it is common for them to recommend an examination to view the cervix and take biopsies. A colposcopy exam may include cryosurgery or a LEEP procedure of the affected area.

  -

Cryosurgery, LEEP Procedure

During this appointment the doctor will put an acidic mixture on the female’s cervix and then view it using a colposcope. With the acid on the tissue, any abnormal areas will appear white and from those areas that biopsies will be taken. A colposcopy exam may include cryosurgery or a LEEP procedure of the affected area.
