A leep, cervical dysplasia treatment, is not done for vaginosis, only if ASCUS is present. After a Pap smear test and colposcopy procedure have detected the presence of abnormal cells in the cervix, this procedure may be necessary to remove the abnormal cells. Other methods of treating dysplasia of the cervix are biopsy, cryosurgery, laser treatment and some others. Only a specialist may prescribe the optimal method, according to the severity and extension of the problem. The more severe the stage the more likely it is to turn into cancer.
