Leep Complications

Leep complications sometimes happen when there is a large area of cervical dysplasia, especially if other infections are present such as lichen sclerosis. After this procedure mild pain, discomfort and light bleeding are possible. If the bleeding is heavy, the pain is very severe, the vaginal discharge and odor are unusual, report to the physician immediately, because these are possible signs of infections. Leep complications sometimes happen when there is a large area of cervical dysplasia, especially if other infections are present such as lichen sclerosis.

After the procedure you should not have sexual intercourse, douche, use tampons, lift heavy objects and take baths as long as the physician recommends. Follow-up Pap tests are necessary. This procedure doesn’t affect the ability to conceive and give birth. Leep complications sometimes happen when there is a large area of cervical dysplasia, especially if other infections are present such as lichen sclerosis.
