With pap smear test result that comes back abnormal, often a repeat pap smear is done and if still abnormal cryotherapy is performed. The problems detected by this procedure can be placed into 5 categories or classes: class 1 means no abnormal cells; class 2 means mild changes (dysplasia); class 3 means moderate dysplasia; class 4 means severe dysplasia and class 5 is cancer.
