Concerning treatments for dysplasia of the cervix, leep surgery is a common one for condyloma but not lichen sclerosus. The loop electrosurgical excision procedure is used to treat the moderate and severe forms of cervical dysplasia and remove abnormal cells from the surface of the vagina. It is performed with a thin wire loop carrying an electrical current, which heats abnormal cells. The technique is rather easy and the whole procedure takes no more than a half an hour. After it some bleeding and discomfort is possible for several days. The patient should avoid sexual intercourse, using tampons and douching as long as the doctor recommends.
