When abnormalities are found on the cervix, cryotherapy is an optional treatment when the hpv wart viruses are present, or vulvar dysplasia. This method is very widely used for treating abnormal tissues on the cervical surface. It is performed after a Pap smear test and colposcopy exam detect atypical cells and diagnose them as CIN (Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia), which may turn into cancer. This method is based on freezing abnormal cells with the help of liquid nitrogen flowing through a metal tube. The treatment may cause slight pain and discomfort, but has practically no side effects and doesn’t affect the ability to conceive and give birth.
