Having sexual relations with a partner infected with hpv, cervix is exposed to HPV which can cause cervical dysplasia. In many women, infection with certain types of Human papilloma virus is the first step in the development of cervical cancer. Human papillomavirus is the main cause of gynaecological cancers. It induces the growth of abnormal cells that can become malignant. Having sexual relations with a partner infected with hpv, cervix is exposed to HPV which can cause cervical dysplasia.

Malignnancies are more likely to progress in women who smoke much, have promiscuos partners, or have other cervical cancer risk factors. Without treatment severely dysplastic cells penetrate deeper and spread to other organs, causing invasive cervical cancer. It usually takes many years for cancer to develop. Having sexual relations with a partner infected with hpv, cervix is exposed to HPV which can cause cervical dysplasia.
