Cervix Length

During a routine pelvic examination, cervix length is noted and inspection for any ASCUS or lesions swabbed for Pap smear. The cone shaped neck of the uterus with a narrow canal protrudes into the vagina to permit the menstrual period to pass from the uterus into the vagina, and sperm to pass into the uterus. This small organ is very important during pregnancies. During a routine pelvic examination, cervix length is noted and inspection for any ASCUS or lesions swabbed for Pap smear.
