Cervix Leep

A cervix LEEP procedure is done for HPV infection revealed by a Pap smear in some cases. This procedure is used to treat cervical dysplasia, a pre-cancerous change in the skin of the cervical cells. There are several procedures to remove the dysplasia: cryosurgery, cone biopsy, laser ablation and loop electrosurgical excision procedure. Your doctor will discuss the best option for your case. With severe dysplasia there is the danger of excessive scar tissue, but most women donít have any problems. A small percentage may have a recurrence of the dysplasia making it important to have regular follow-up visits for Pap smears afterwards.
