Effaced Cervix

An effaced cervix could lead to infertility, and if not protected could lead to cervical cancer. Occuring in the second or third trimester, it may be the cause of late miscarriage or premature birth. Incompetence is a condition when dilation and effacement begins before the pregnancy has reached term. After the effacement cervical dilatation (opening) begins, rated from 0 to 10 cm. An effaced cervix could lead to infertility, and if not protected could lead to cervical cancer.

Infertility, Cervical Cancer

The effacement and dilation can begin a month before the delivery, or it can wait until the last few hours. It is expressed in percentages: if you begin pushing, the effacement is 100%. Cervical effacement is the thinning of the cervical opening in preparation for birth. An effaced cervix could lead to infertility, and if not protected could lead to cervical cancer.
