A dialated cervix, cryotherapy, and miscarriage are terms related to hpv. In general it is a very safe procedure and has been performed for many years. During the procedure the physitian enlarges the cervix and scrapes the inside of the uterus to remove tissue for analysis. "D&C" is conducted if a Pap smear test doesn't clearly indicate whether abnormalities are caused by problem in the cervix or in the endometrium.
