Cervix Leep

A cervix leep is performed if one has an irregular pap smear caused by HPV. Most women find the procedure to be painless, with some experiencing a slight increase in body temperature. It takes about 3-4 weeks for the cervical area to heal. This procedure consists of removing the abnormal cells by cutting away the tissue containing the dysplasia with an electric wire loop. A cervix leep is performed if one has an irregular pap smear caused by HPV.

A common treatment for dysplasia is called a loop electrosurgical excision procedure.
