Cryotherapy is done when the patient is awake. The cryo probe is inserted into the vagina and placed on the surface of the abnormal tissue. Compressed gaseous nitrogen flows through the instrument, making the metal cold. Two typical types of cervical surgery are LEEP procedure and cryotherapy.
