Cervical Screening Programme

A cervical screening programme is not considered a diagnostic procedure but does predetermine the need for further diagnostistic and treatment such a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy. Testing for cancerous cells of the cervix is done through a Pap smear. It is important to have a regular exam to detect any symptoms of future cancerous tissue or cells. Successful treatment much depends on early detection of the problem. After the age of 30, a combination of Pap smear and HPV test should be performed every year. A cervical screening programme is not considered a diagnostic procedure but does predetermine the need for further diagnostistic and treatment such a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy.

LEEP Procedure, Cryotherapy

Many women achieve immunity to abnormal cells within 9-18 months. Once this immunity is achieved, then they cannot be reinfected, nor transmit this particular strain. However since they carry the virus, they are still susceptible to other strains. A cervical screening programme is not considered a diagnostic procedure but does predetermine the need for further diagnostistic and treatment such a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy.
