Cervical Dilation

Cervical dilation may be performed to access more interiorly affected tissues for a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy. "D&C" is conducted if a Pap smear test doesn't clearly indicate whether abnormalities are caused by a problem in the cervix or in the endometrium. During the procedure the physician enlarges the cervix and scrapes the inside of the uterus to remove tissue for analysis.
