Cervical Cancer Prevention

Cervical cancer prevention may include treatment for dysplasia such as a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy. There are two ways of avoiding the disease: HPV infections treatment and regular PAP smears taken to detect pre-cancerous condition and HPV. Both of these can stop the progression of the disease. A single PAP smear may not show any abnormal cells. Cervical cancer prevention may include treatment for dysplasia such as a LEEP procedure or cryotherapy.

Women should also reduce the chances of getting the disease: avoid sexual activity before 18 years, use condoms, and avoid sexually promiscuous partners. If there are warts on the partnerís genitals, intercourse should be avoided, because of the possibility of HPV.
