Causes Of Cervical Cancer

Causes of cervical cancer, detected by a pap smear, have been directly linked to HPV viruses. Infections with HPV cause dysplasia, which can lead to development of abnormal tissues. Precancers are completely curable when followed up properly. Women over 35, women who had multiple sexual partners or a history of HPV or genital warts, women taking oral contraceptives are at risk. To reduce the chances of getting the disease women should take the following measures: avoid sexual activity before 18 years old, avoid promiscuous partners or use condoms, and discontinue any tobacco use.
