Cervical Incompetence

Cervical incompetence may be caused by multiple surgeries for cervical dysplasia or vulvar vestibulitis. The reason for this is because as the pregnancy advances the tissue of the cervix is too weak to keep the uterus opening closed. This ineptness of the cervix causes a woman to have a hard time carrying a pregnancy to term and many times a miscarriage occurs. Cervical incompetence may be caused by multiple surgeries for cervical dysplasia or vulvar vestibulitis.

Cervical Incompetence

  -

Cervical, Vulvar Vestibulitis

Though not a common occurrence after a surgical procedure on the cervix, if it does occur it is a major problem. Weakening of the cervix only happens in about 5% of women that have surgical procedures performed on their cervix and is more common with LEEP procedures and cone biopsies. Cervical incompetence may be caused by multiple surgeries for cervical dysplasia or vulvar vestibulitis.
