In women symptoms of cervical dysplasia or early HPV infection is not pronounced, nor generally is a penile wart in men although it is more visible. Generally this condition is asymptomatic, and a pelvic examination is normal. Pap smears detect all kinds of the disease (mild, moderate, marked, and severe). The treatment depends on the degree of the disease and the desire to have children in future. The cause is unknown yet, but risk factors are identified. The disease peaks in women of 25 to 35, with multiple sexual partners, early onset of sexual activity, and early childbearing. Exposure to DES and history of std also increase the risk.
