Colposcopy Procedure

A colposcopy procedure allows to make a proper diagnosis on vaginal wart, vulvar vestibulitis and other disorders. Women can prepare for it by emptying their bladder right before the exam and refraining from douching, using tampons, or having intercourse about 48 hours before the appointment. The complete exam will take only about 20-30 minutes and is performed right in the doctor’s office. From the areas that appear white, biopsies or tissue samples, will be taken using small biopsy forceps or a large needle. A colposcope, which is an electrical microscope, is used to view the cervix after an acidic solution has been applied so that abnormal areas will appear white. A colposcopy procedure allows to make a proper diagnosis on vaginal wart, vulvar vestibulitis and other disorders.
