Colposcopy Exam

During a colposcopy exam, the cervix is examined with a colposcope to determine possible disorders, such as lichen sclerosis, dysplasia, cancer, etc. With the acid on the tissue, any abnormal areas will appear white and from those areas that biopsies will be taken. During this appointment the doctor will put an acidic mixture on the female’s cervix and then view it using a colposcope.
