A cell cervical can develop cervical cancer if damaged with human papillomavirus. There exist several methods for curing these conditions, such as laser treatment, LEEP, cone biopsy, cryosurgery, hysterectomy etc. Moderate to severe changes (CIN 2, CIN 3, HGSIL and others) are more likely to be precancerous and should be treated immediately. A cell cervical can develop cervical cancer if damaged with human papillomavirus.

These changes may disappear without treatment, especially in young women. Minor changes in the cervix are also called ASCUS, LSIL, or mild dysplasia (CIN 1); they may be caused by various infections, inflammations and lead to cancer if left untreated.
