Atypical Pap Smear

Atypical pap smear is often associated with human papillomavirus; it can be vaginal wart, cervical dysplasia or other disorders. Both genetic makeup and lifestyle may contribute to unusual test results. But, elements that weaken the immune system are also a factor. Recent research suggests that people lacking a specific protein are more susceptible to HPV infection than are others, similar to getting a cold.
