When uterine dysplasia is diagnosed, it is sometimes detected along with cervical abnormalities with an ASCUS pap smear reading. This condition may lead to development of the malignancies in the endometrium, which is the lining of the uterus. It is very important to detect this disorder on the earliest possible stage when treatment is rather easy and practically painless. The diagnosis is based on the biopsy of a D&C (dilatation of the cervix and curettage or scraping of the endometrium). The usual methods of treatment are hysterectomy, cryosurgery and some others. The cancer is treated by radiation therapy or chemical therapy. When uterine dysplasia is diagnosed, it is sometimes detected along with cervical abnormalities with an ASCUS pap smear reading.
