Leep Cervix

To perform a leep, cervix dysplasia is usually apparent, usually termed cervical dysplasia, and may cause the chance of miscarriage. A loop electrical excision procedure is performed if a Pap smear test has shown the presence of the abnormal cells in the cervical area and they have been examined by a colposcopy. Abnormal cells are removed with a thin wire loop carrying an electrical current. The procedure can be performed in the office or outpatient surgery with local anesthesia. Slight discomfort during the operation is possible and itching, pain, vaginal discharge may be experienced for several days after it. Other methods for treating cervical dysplasia are cryosurgery and laser surgery.
