Acuminatum

Acuminatum

Acuminatum, or Condyloma Acuminatum, also known as HPV, is directly linked to cervical cancer. This type of a condiloma (or genital warts) is physically apparent in 1% of the sexually active population. This condition is caused by some strains of Human papillomavirus (HPV-6, 11, 16 and 18), which is sexually transmitted. Often this condition is asymptomatic. Acuminatum, or Condyloma Acuminatum, also known as HPV, is directly linked to cervical cancer.

HPV infection may lead to the development of cervical dysplasia and later to cervical cancer. Pap smear tests can indicate the problem; colposcopy and biopsy are performed to determine its nature and location. Treatment is reserved for patients with visible condyloma. Acuminatum, or Condyloma Acuminatum, also known as HPV, is directly linked to cervical cancer.
