Stage 3 Cervical Cancer

Stage 3 cervical cancer is considered advanced cancer extending to the pelvic wall requiring pelic radiation therapy in addition to genital wart removal or other HPV treatments. The lower the staging, the better the personís prognosis. This condition is determined by information that is obtained through: biopsy and the pathology reports, cystoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, computer tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. These methods determine the tumorís size, depth of penetration, and spread within or beyond the cervix. Stage 3 cervical cancer is considered advanced cancer extending to the pelvic wall requiring pelic radiation therapy in addition to genital wart removal or other HPV treatments.

The FIGO system classifies this condition into four basic periods, labeled 0 through 4. In this period the tumor spreads to the lower third of the vagina or onto the pelvic wall and may be blocking the flow of urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Stage 3 cervical cancer is considered advanced cancer extending to the pelvic wall requiring pelic radiation therapy in addition to genital wart removal or other HPV treatments.
