Leep Bleeding

Following any surgical procedure, such as leep bleeding, pain, and discomfort may result; return to your doctor if heaving bleeding occurs and for follow-up HPV DNA test and a Pap smear. This procedure is a kind of conization performed with electrosurgical loop. It has several advantages over cold-knife and laser conization because of its rapidity, preservation of the margins for histologic evaluation, and virtual bloodlessness. It can be performed in the office or in other outpatient settings. The equipment for the procedure is not very complicated. It consists of generator that creates high-frequency low-voltage electric current, and an insulated thin wire loop. The procedure is used for the diagnosis of positive cervical cytology and for treatment of cervical dysplasia grades 2 and 3.
