Information on cervical cancer may include avoiding partners who have a visible penile wart or verruca. Infections of various types lead to dysplasia, which can develop into abnormal tissues. When detected in early stages, precancers are completely curable, but without early diagnosis, the prognosis for carcinoma and other atypical tissues may be very bad. Women over 35, women who had multiple sexual partners or a history of HPV or genital warts, women taking oral contraceptives are at greater risk. Pelvic examinations, including PAP smear should be taken regularly to be on a safe side. To reduce the chances of getting the disease women should take the following measures: avoid sexual activity before 18 years old, avoid promiscuous partners or use condoms, and discontinue any tobacco use.
