Cervical Cancer Stage 2

Cervical Cancer Stage 2

Cervical cancer stage 2 means that it has begun to spread outside the neck to surrounding tissues and surgery such as LEEP procedure for vaginal dysplasia may require radiation therapy as well. The lower the staging, the better the personís prognosis. This condition is determined by information that is obtained through: biopsy and the pathology reports, cystoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, computer tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. These methods determine the tumorís size, depth of penetration, and spread within or beyond the cervix. Cervical cancer stage 2 means that it has begun to spread outside the neck to surrounding tissues and surgery such as LEEP procedure for vaginal dysplasia may require radiation therapy as well.

The FIGO system classifies this condition into four basic periods, labeled 0 through 4. In CIN II the tumor extends beyond the cervix and/or upper part of the vagina, but not onto the pelvic wall. The prognosis is comparatively well.
