Women over 35 need routine exams for breast and cervical cancer, HPV cervical dysplasia; both are preventable if detected early. To reduce the chances of getting the disease women should take the following measures: avoid sexual activity before 18 years old, avoid promiscuous partners or use condoms, and discontinue any tobacco use. Pelvic examinations, including PAP smear should be taken regularly, as it helps determine the disorder on early stages when treatment is easy. Infections of various types cause dysplasia, which can lead to development of abnormal tissues. Precancers are completely curable when detected early and followed up properly. Women over 35, women who had multiple sexual partners or a history of HPV or genital warts, women taking oral contraceptives are at risk and should be examined more than once a year.
