In order to screen for cervical cancer, a pap smear or a biopsy if a venereal wart is present must be performed. STD testing in men unfortunately doesnít include testing for the HPV virus. Some urologists can perform a penile urethral swab if no symptoms of HPV are present, and a biopsy if any warts are present. There is limited testing for men. This test determines whether you carry high or low risk strains of the virus. The only problem is; if you donít have abnormal cells, often times labs will not perform a Digene Hybrid Capture HPV DNA test. The common testing procedure for HPV infection is an annual pap exam. In order to screen for cervical cancer, a pap smear or a biopsy if a venereal wart is present must be performed.
